Quality Cup win. 3-2 against Rhyl, played the full game on the left side of midfield again. Managed to set up the 3rd goal which made the score 3-1 and proved to be the decisive goal. Had my Mam, Dad and Grandad watching from the stand. Nerves got to me a bit, haven't had any family watching for a long while but grew into the game, most of the work was going back towards my own goal but satisfied and showed what I can do with the ball with the cross I provided.
Both my Dad and Grandad praised me for that so that was a great help. Some great pictures were taken and had a top quality night with all the lads afterwards. There is a great spirit in the dressing room, the best I have ever known it. Just a shame I had to escape early for work the next day. Memorable day.
Finished off the season yesterday with a home game against Runcorn. The gaffer made a few changes to give the lads who haven't played much due to form of others or injury a run which meant I was on the bench. Got on for the last 20-25 minutes, a good run-out and with us already cruising at 3-0, the pressure was on somewhat that all the changes didn't unsettle us as we wanted a clean sheet. Thankfully, that did not happen and we strolled to a 7-0. Got my 3rd goal of the season, a nice lay-off from Mitch and fired low past the keeper from just outside the area. Starting to get back to full fitness and cannot wait to get back into pre-season, roll on next year!
Team went the season unbeaten. Brilliant record.
From 12 games, including sub, I assisted 7 times and scored 3. Could have asked for a bit more but just glad to back playing again with all the lads.
